Lunch Menu

Children stay at school over lunch and have either a hot dinner or bring a packed lunch. Those children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal through a government scheme aiming to improve academic achievement and save families money.

Children who have school dinners are provided with a well-balanced meal that is prepared within the government guidelines for nutritional and dietary needs. Whilst ensuring that the meals are healthy, we talk with the children and school council in order to adapt the menu to suit their preferences wherever possible. A choice of, milk or water is available for drinks.

The fruit and vegetables are fresh and are cooked on the day of use in our own kitchen. A self-service salad bar is available for children having a school meal. Children can help themselves to cucumber, tomato, sweet corn, coleslaw etc.

Children bringing packed lunches are encouraged to choose a healthy option. Please ensure that packed lunches do not contain sweets, class bottles or thermos flasks. We request that parents ensure that packed lunches are packed in a strong container which is labelled with the child's name.

Free school meals are available to some children according to family income. It's important to register for entitlement to free school meals, even though your child may have a packed lunch, this is so we can review additional funding (pupil premium) which we can use to help your child.

Please note: On occassions it is necessary that the school cook changes the menu choices for some days for several reasons so therefore please only use this menu as a guide as to what your child will be served.
