Spring term 2021

Welcome to Bubble 1 Year 1 Home Learning Page

The guidance and activities, outlined below, have been created to help support your child with home learning. We appreciate every family is unique and faces their own challenges and wish to support you as best we can. Whatever suggestions we have made, you have the freedom to make this work in a way that is best for you and your family.

As we enter lockdown we are offering children the opportunity to participate in live streamed lessons. As a teaching staff we have worked together to try and minimise overlap with other classes to support families with more than one child in school. However, as you will appreciate this is not always possible. Timings will be reviewed and updated on a weekly basis. We encourage your child to attend as many of these sessions as is possible. The timetable for Bubble 1 Year 1  children is below with the live sessions clearly marked in red. Your child will need to log onto their Microsoft Teams account and click the link in the posts to join the lesson.

On this page you will find all the resources you need for the lessons outlined in the timetable, including any resources needed for the live lessons. We aim, where possible, to make these activities as practical as possible and where recording is needed it can usually be done on paper by viewing the worksheet on the screen therefore not requiring printing. If you have any issues regarding resources needed please let us know.

LIVE Phonics Spring 2 week 1

Live lesson time is 10am Monday - Thursday. Please join in Y1 phonics team. You don't need to print these activity sheets, unless you wish to, as they will be displayed on the screen during the lesson. They are for your information only.

If you can't attend the live phonics session any day please use this video to practice your phonemes and words https://web.microsoftstream.com/video/3703e933-4dfb-488a-bd38-9db54f71e4cc?list=studio

Friday - The pre-recorded lesson for Friday will be posted here before the day. The follow up activity is attached below.

If you haven't yet done so, please ensure that your child has a copy of the Phase 4 and 5 bookmarks attached below and that they are reading (and eventually) spelling them every day. They may have these in their zip wallets but I've uploaded a copy if they haven't. It would also be useful for them to have a copy of the Phase 5 sound mat to constantly reinforce the sounds we are learning to read and spell. If you can, it might be useful to print these out to refer to. If you can't, you can just write them down for your child.

LIVE Maths Spring 2 week 1

Live lesson time for maths is 1:30pm Monday - Wednesday. Please join Bubble 1 Year 1. On Thursday the live lesson time is 1pm. Please join Bubble 1. You don't need to print these activity sheets, unless you wish to, as they will be dispalyed on the screen during the lesson. They are for your information only.

Tuesday and Wednesday - no resources needed as the lessons are practical about length. It will be handy to have something to measure with that is regular in size, e.g. duplo blocks, penny coins or pasta tubes. As long as they are all the same size they will be fine.

Thursday - 2D shapes, and their properties, and patterns

Friday - Oak National Academy Estimating length in centimetres.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/estimating-length-in-centimetres-60t3ac?activity=video&step=2&view=1 Please watch the video and complete the activity it describes. It will be helpful to have a centimetre ruler handy.

Mini Maths Spring 2 week 1

View and write the answers. Mini maths recaps prior learning.

English week 6

Here are the English activities for this week to be completed independently.

Tuesday - I can use ‘and’ to extend my sentences. Read through the PowerPoint 'Using and' then write a recount about your holiday. I would really like you to focus on using ‘and’ to join two sentences together. Remember also to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Also to read through your writing to check it makes sense!

Wednesday - I can sequence sentences so my instructions make sense. I hope you all enjoyed a pancake on Shrove Tuesday last week. Now can you write a set of instructions on how to make a pancake. Remember to number your instructions. You can also draw a picture to go with each instruction or you can use the pictures attached here.

Thursday - I can identify nouns. Read the 'What is a noun?' PowerPoint to understand that a noun is the name of a person, place or thing. Then go on a noun hunt to write a list of people, places and things. A worksheet is attached.

Friday - I can name common and proper nouns. A common noun is a type of a naming word. It refers to general people, places or things, e.g. town, boy, toy. A proper noun is more specific and begins with a capital letter like Brigg, Kate. Complete the attached sheet to give proper noun examples of the common nouns.

Always remember:

  • To use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
  • To read your sentences after each one to check that it makes sense!

Reading Spring 2 week 1

Please read your reading book and practise the words on your word cards and bookmarks for 10 minutes everyday. If you would like any additional reading books online you can sign up to www.oxfordowl.co.uk for a free account. You need Oxford owl at home. You can search for books whether you are reading on the book band colour red or yellow. If you have any concerns about your child's reading please speak to us at school.

Storytime Spring 2 week 1

We like to read a story everyday. On the timetable you will see a daily storytime session. Two of these will be pre-recorded and attached below. The other three are for you to read your child a story of their choice.

Science Spring 2 week 1

Thursday - watch the powerpont about plants and then, after a walk around your garden or the park, complete the worksheet.

Theme Spring 2 week 1

Wednesday - Our new theme for this term will be 'Superheroes - past and present'. Whilst in Reception we learnt about the people who help us, this year we will focus more on the people who have helped in the past. Look at the pictures on the sheet attached and write what you can see and what you think about the people and objects. Parents - the aim of this isn't to research to find the answers, it is purely to get the children looking at these sources and noting down what they can see and what they already know. This is our entry point. I would then like you to write two questions about the things that are on this sheet and through our theme work this half term we will try to answer as many questions as we can.
