Virtual Sports Day - week commencing Monday 15th June 2020

In week commencing Monday 15th June we will hold a virtual sports day in association with Clixby Active Pro who we have had the pleasure of working with in school this year. The sports day consists of 10 events which can be easily done in school or at home. All you need is a 5m distance marked out with markers, some rolled up towels (or similar), a ball, a tennis racket, a skipping rope and a way of measuring 1 minute. The attached PowerPoint guides you through each event with helpful videos. I've also attached a help sheet which details each event and the scoring system. Finally there is a recording sheet which each participant needs. You then need to send me your recording sheet either in person, on Facebook or to mrshafford1@gmail.com by Monday 22nd June. I will then announce a winner from each of six categories: Key Stage 1 or younger, Key Stage 2, Under 18's, Parents, Grandparents and Staff/Governers. As you can see I would love for this to involve everyone in our family, school and community! Good luck everyone!

Home learning opportunities

Some of the listed events may not go ahead if there is not enough interest. The events we will provide buses for are noted above therefore for the other events it may be that we need to request parent transport. Without enough transport we also may need to cancel events. Therefore, can I please ask that letter replies are returned promptly to allow smooth organisation of the events. For events held at schools (usually Vale) during the school day I'm afraid that parents are not allowed to go into the school, or therefore watch the event, as there is a safeguarding issue to manage so many visitors onsite. However if the event is being held after school time parents are more than welcome to watch but please beaware that there may be limited audience space if the event is a busy one!

Latest news

We started the term with a trip to the Brigg cluster swimming gala for a team of KS2 swimmers. They all swam amazingly and tried their best. They finsihed in first place!

Four children were then lucky enough to be selected to visit the English Institute of Sport at Sheffield as part of the Future Stars event. They had the opportunity to take part in some athletic activities, futsal and a tour of the venue.

Next up was our Year 3/4 dodgeball team who batteled hard in the Brigg cluster competition and came out joint winners with Brigg Primary. They showed fantastic team work and fair play with the other teams.

Throughout this half term 23 KS2 children have worked hard, attending our Wake and Shake club, learning a new routine which they will perform as part of the North Lincolnshire Dance Showcase in March. They are all thoroughly excited about this opportunity and say it's the most energetic routine they have learnt to date!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents for their continued support with transport and support at these events. It means so much to the children to have you there.
