Celebrations in St Mary's Church Wrawby

Harvest 2016

The theme for our Harvest Festival this year was

'Food For All'.

Harvest is an important time of year in our school community and as we said thanks to God for all we have we spent time reflecting on those near to us who aren't as fortunate. Eagle class took us back in time to the rationing imposed on our country, during and after World War II, which had been a part of their Autumn theme work.

We would like to thank youu to our school family for their generous donations of produce which was very gratefully received by Brigg Food Bank.

Christmas 2016

The theme for our Christmas Celebration this year was

'The History of our Traditional Carols'.

Every year we sing a variety of Christmas Carols, old and new, but where did they come from?

Our Christmas Service gave us time to reflect on the lyrics, music and composers of carols such as; Silent Night, Away In A Manger, While Shepherds Watched, O Little Town of Bethlehem and We Three Kings of Orient Are.

As always, our children presented the service, which included each class presenting their own favourite piece from their Christmas production, instrumentalists performing carols, Penguin class making their debut with their recorders and the presentation of the children's prayer baubles on the church tree.

Without doubt, the children's prayer baubles have become a significant part of our Christmas Service, with each child in school decorating a bauble and writing their own prayer about their hopes for our world in the coming year. This is then hung on the church Christmas Tree for thr festive period, allowing other members of the community time to reflect on the thoughts of our children.
